Dr Kate Bexley (Principal Psychologist / Director)
Thank you for visiting my page. I have over 15 years experience in helping people with a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety (panic, social anxiety, PTSD, OCD, health anxiety, phobias) relationship difficulties, ‘life transitions’, anger, eating disorders and addictions. I am based in Sutton on the London/ Surrey border and do some face-to-face therapy (currently unavailable due to COVID-19) in surrounding areas, and online counselling UK and beyond.
I have a specialist interest in helping people who feel like they are not good enough, people who feel like they are a bit of a fraud, as though their success is due to ‘luck’ rather than their own hard work, and feel anxious about being found out (imposter syndrome). This is often coupled with difficulties accepting positive feedback. Underpinning this, can often be a desire to get things as close to ‘perfect’ as possible. I have found that many people who feel this way also tend to worry quite a bit and struggle to deal with uncertainty, which can cause anxiety and low mood (i.e. they may be struggling with generalised anxiety disorder; GAD).
My approach involves a blend of traditional CBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
